Creating The Finest Control4 Smart Homes Nationwide

Art of Smart was founded in 2017 by Managing Director, Rich Heppell. In just four years, it has grown to a team of 17 with a national network of more than 200 partner companies, all trained and accredited by in house training academy, AOS Acedemy. Our partners are by our side to assist on projects, benefiting our clients by keeping labour costs down and quality standards high.

After 11 years working in the electrical industry, Rich decided to move into the smart home industry. He decided to pick a platform and get to know it inside out – this platform was Control4. In 2019, AOS won the Control4 Circle of Excellence Award and in 2020, AOS was recognised as Control4’s highest volume partner. We are also a Control4 Platinum dealer.

Rich has built the business on reputation and by only employing people that share the same vision and want to do the best possible job. We hire for passion and we have built a brilliant team who all love what they do. We focus on quality and very heavily on user experience, going the extra mile – always.

During a global pandemic, Art of Smart opened its in house Training Academy, AOS Academy. A long time vision come reality, AOS Academy ensures standards are harmonious across projects, allows us to bring value to our new and existing clients no matter where they are in the country, and strengthens our offering by building an unparalleled support network.

Following on the success of the Academy, in 2021 Art of Smart opened an online training academy which provides fortnightly training videos for more than 300 industry professionals worldwide.
MEET THE TEAM
Rich
Rich is the owner of Art of Smart, he personally surveys all projects and oversees the general running of all operations and client relationships ensuring projects run smoothly. He still actively works on site on our clients projects preferring this to a more office based role. Its means he can keep the finger on the pulse and oversee all aspects of what the business does and ensure quality stays to the absolute maximum. He is qualified in both Control4 and Lutron and has his Pakedge PCNA. He also now is sharing his wealth of knowledge in our training academy for aspiring smart home installers.
Danny
Danny is our Senior Designer. He’s in charge of pricing all of our projects and creating all our documentation for jobs using a combination of AutoCad, Visio, D-Tools & The Cinema Designer software. He makes amendments to site documentation as feedback comes in from the guys and ensures all our standard operating procedures and install guides are kept up to date. He was an Electrician by trade before moving into industrial switch gear manufacture and design – which is where his initial CAD skills have come from. We are currently keeping all his education up to date with CEDIA CEUs and also completing the AVIXA CTD-D in design.
Adam
Is our Customer Relationship & Compliance Manager. He manages all aspects of our customers journey and ensures a premium experience during a project with AOS. Adam also runs our business processes through Zoho CRM which has taken our operating standards to another level. He followed AOS’s growth on social media and jumped at the chance to join the team when opportunity arose.
Rob
Is our Media Manager. Rob is responsible for shooting videos, taking photos and editing content of our projects and leading the vision of the Media Team. Video content has become a crucial part of what AOS do as a business, we now get videos up onto our YouTube channel twice weekly (Wednesdays & Sundays).

Rob and the team are also available to hire by AOS Partners to capture their own projects to. You can follow Rob on Instagram @artofsmartmedia
Cameron
Works in our Media Team as a Junior Content Creator. Working closely with Rob he films, edits, and contributes to all our Media Content. Cameron takes the lead filming our AOS 3.0 content, meaning we can deliver more training nationally to grow the AOS partners network.
Craig
Is our social media coordinator. Social Media is such an important aspect to AOS we wanted to make sure we had someone who regularly schedules and manages posting content created by our Media team. He also designs and creates graphic designs to be used in our media content.
Paul
Paul is our stores/ warehouse manager. He oversees all stock, inventory management across all locations and ensuring all materials are ordered ahead of going to site. He makes sure all the lads vans are stocked with essential items for reactive maintenance and call outs.
Jorja
Is responsible for our business administration and is also personal assistant to our director Rich. She handles the business invoicing & accounts, and is also working toward completing her level 2 book-keeping and accounting qualifications.
Pete
Is our Technical Designer, specialising in our 3D digital renders that are personalised to every client’s project. Using his extensive background in IT, Pete has taken our design capabilities to the next level, allowing our clients to see quotes and designs digitally inside their actual homes and sites.
Pete joined the company with a serious passion for home automation and has since implemented a small setup in his own home, including a small home cinema. He passed the control4 training and is now a certified programmer.
Oliver
Oliver is our project manager, with a wealth of experience coming from a career of AV and live events background. In his most recent role he worked and gained good experience working as a Control4 and Lutron programmer mainly working on Draytek and Cisco networking brands however will complete his Pakedge PCNA training to allow him to work to his best ability on our sites. He has worked throughout the UK and in Europe and takes the lead on our client project programming.
Andrew
Andy was our first ever apprentice/ employee. He has been here since the start and been key to AOS’s growth. He’s taken the rough with the smooth and that is something I’ll be eternally grateful for. Although he is completing an adult electrical apprenticeship, he has also completed the Control4 programming course and on a fast track to managing projects. He also will complete the Pakedge PCNA training along with Lutron Lighting control programming course. He left a management job in hospitality for the role so his customer service is second to none.
Kieran
Kieran mostly works at HQ as our rack building expert, working tirelessly in the lab to create and programme our AV installation racks. Kieran also works on site with the Installation Team as programmer and AV Engineer. He has worked in the industry for six years, with a background in programming Control4 and Lutron systems.
