Electrician/ Trainee Electrical Designer

Looking for minimum 3 years qualified experience in residential/ commercial, good understanding of domestic heating systems ready to apply them to complex heating systems, 2391 or equivalent and competent to thoroughly complete electrical installation certificates and potentially take on the role of QS. (Good news - NO EICRs!).

A passion to work in the exciting world of smart homes is an absolute must although experience isn’t necessary although would be preferential.

Must be very good in written and verbal communications, be good with both clients and peers and the ideal candidate would be prepared to spend 2/3 days a week on site along with 2/3 days in the office/ WFH, Electrical design of installations, lighting control panel planning - design and installation, along with LED load calculation.

Again with the above, extensive experience isn’t essential as full training could be provided including AutoCAD training, electrical design software, with opportunity to do C&G 2396 (Design, Erection and Verification).

You can be based anywhere in the country, but Must be prepared to work away, travel to our HQ in York for meetings and also could work from home. Security Engineer
We’re looking for a security engineer to join the team. Someone that has a minimum 3 years experience installing and maintaining IP CCTV and Grade 2 monitored alarms.

The ideal candidate must be motivated and driven, have genuine passion for the career as well as been good at working alone or as part of the team. Not to mention be a people person and great with clients and suppliers.

Experience with at-least 2/4 CCTV systems - Lilin, Axis, Hikvision or Dahua.

Experience with Texecom alarm systems.

Experience with setting up monitoring (we work with an incredible monitoring station based in Cheshire) and ideally come from either a NSI or SSAIB approved company and be comfortable with the paperwork and processes.

A good understanding of IP Networking ideally VLANs.

PCNA - The professional certified network administrator course to boost your networking skills.

Control4 programming training to make you a wizard at integration plus ongoing support from our team.

You’ll work with our design team to create documentation and hand over packs, our compliance manager to ensure all contracts and conformities and our installation and programming team to carry out the system installation.

This is mainly a second fix, commission and service role as all first fix is carried out by our national network of partners.

Video Editor
Art of Smart is looking to hire a full time video editor to help with the smooth running of our busy media production department. This role would be primarily based from our York office but travel to film around the UK will be required occasionally.

Daily tasks would include editing videos to publish on our YouTube channel, creating short format clips for Instagram reels/shorts and grading/green screening footage.

A passion for tech and the smart home industry is desirable as well as an ability to hit weekly deadlines for projects. All training provided if required and a company MacBook will also be provided

SALARY - Dependent on experience


- 2 years experience with Premier Pro

- Knowledge of Camera equipment and accessories (Canon/Black Magic)

- A FULL UK driving license and own method of transportation (ideally!)

- Being able to pick up new skills quickly and adapt to new challenges when required


- Experience filming and shooting video/photos to an industry standard

- Experience using other Adobe suite software

- Experience using da Vinci resolve

- Live in York or surrounding areas
